If you're having a bad week take a listen to this. It's an interview with Jimmy Carr on the Diary of a CEO podcast.

It caught me off guard as I was expecting 2hrs of jokes instead of countless words of wisdom.

Here's one: "Everyone is jealous of what we have but not how we got there".

Everyone would love Jimmy’s money but no one wants to sit down and write jokes 10 hours a day.

Why you’d be CRAZY to buy Andy’s cafe!

By now you've probably heard Andy’s cafe is closing. It's one of Newquay’s most loved cafes, so I did a bit of research to find out why it had to close. Grab a coffee as it does involve a bit of maths. 😀

Here's the answer.

The Annual Rent is: £21,700
The Business Rates: £16,500

You need at least 2 people to run the business. 1 Chef and 1 Waiter/ Waitress.
Let's pay them minimum wage (£11.44) and 40hrs a week. (8-5)

Rent/Biz rates/ Wages= £38,200+£47,622.40. Total = £85,822.40.

Andy's biggie breakfast cost £11.20 and a cappuccino is £2.50 = £13.70

So, you would need to sell approximately 6,264 breakfasts with coffee in a year just to cover wages, rent, and rates. That’s not even to make a profit!

That means you’d be making 17 breakfasts and cappuccinos every day, 7 days a week! FOR FREE!

And the crazy thing is I haven’t even added in the cost of buying the food or paying for water, gas, and electricity!

So if it was my cafe you’d be sitting in the dark with an empty plate in front of you! At least you’d be dry. 🤣
