Newquay Town Councillors have refused the developer's proposal to pay a fee to Cornwall Council instead of constructing affordable homes.
Salboy Limited wants to make changes to commence the first phase of open market properties due to delays in relocating the Narrowcliff GP surgery.
During a town council's planning committee meeting, concerns were raised that the suggested off-site affordable housing contribution might lead to homes being built elsewhere in Cornwall.
County Hall will make the final decision, but considering how “skint” the council is, don’t be surprised if/when they take the money.
