May 21 - Newquay Junior School to ban skirts
Good Morning, Newquay!
After seeing some reports this morning…
I’ve made the decision today that I will never write about a death in this newsletter. The last thing I’d ever want to do is for a family member to find out through reading this.
Plus I want to try and keep this fun, whilst sharing a bit of local information.
So let’s get to today’s issue…

Newquay Junior School to ban skirts
Newquay Junior Academy in Edgcumbe Avenue has written to parents to say that it wants to implement the skirts ban from September.
If approved, the new rule would mean that girls at the school would have to wear trousers or tailored shorts instead of skirts.
The headteacher wrote this:
" The proposed change is that there will no longer be an option to wear skirts within our uniform policy. Instead, we are proposing that instead of a skirt, pupils will all wear either tailored black school trousers or tailored black school shorts. The rationale for this, is that we are concerned about the way that some of our girls are wearing their skirts, and this is reflected in comments from many of you, as parents and carers, but also from visitors and our community."

If you look closely you’ll notice this individual is missing the tip of its left antenna.
The antennae are used for navigation during their migratory flights, but it has been found that as long as they have one intact, they are perfectly able to navigate.
It is only when both are lost that they start to get confused, so this little one was perfectly able to complete its flight to us here in the UK even with only one full antenna!
