SW Water causes havoc with unsanctioned work
Newquay was thrown into chaos yesterday when South West Water conducted unsanctioned work.
Despite the August works embargo designed to minimise disruptions during the tourist season, some absolute genius at South West Water decided to proceed with the job.
The disruption only stopped after local Gary Barnes, aware of the embargo, contacted the head office.
The traffic was so bad it stretched from the bus station to Nansledan.
It took me 1hr 30 mins to get 400m.
Apparently South West Water have just acknowledged that it isn’t actually an urgent matter and the contractors are now undoing today’s work.
The road will be made good this evening and the intended work will now be carried out in September once the roads are quieter.
South West Water has since admitted the work wasn't urgent, and the road will be restored this evening. For more on the embargo, visit Cornwall Council's page.
The work will now be conducted in September. Date yet unknown.
